Best Burgers in Malaysia With Exclusive Deals
If there’s one thing that’s almost universal, it’s that people all around the world love a good burger. Malaysia itself has gone through a “burger bakar” (grilled burger) craze more than a decade ago, with patient patrons willing to wait for several hours just to get a nice juicy bite out of burgers that are big in both size and flavour. Today, the businesses at some of these stalls have even grown large enough that they have opened up several stores throughout the Klang Valley! Let’s take a look at some of these burgers in Malaysia that we think you’ll love!
BiG Lava Burgers
Some of the more popular burgers in Malaysia feature thick and juicy patties. Big Lava Burgers is no different; it’s even in the name! This particular burger stall is quite well known among the residents of Taman Midah. When they first started in September 2016, they were originally known as Molten Lava Burgers. At the time, they were operating right beside the RHB Bank in Taman Midah with only one square table. They have recently moved to Midah Walk which is a bigger space with several other stalls and more tables for customers who choose to dine in. What is unique about their burgers is that the patties are all made by hand in-house, and each patty is generously stuffed with delicious gooey mozzarella, hence the name, since the melted cheese would flow out like molten lava as soon as the burger is split apart. A year later, they have rebranded themselves as Big Lava Burgers which also emphasises the size of their burgers. The burgers are available in chicken, beef and lamb. Each set comes with two sausages and a drink. If one 200g patty is not enough to satisfy you, you can even order a double to get 400g of meat and cheese!

For those who are in Penang Island or planning to travel to Penang Island, don’t miss the chance to give Flip Burger a chance to flip your tastebuds. Just as Big Lava Burgers is popular among the residents of its location, Flip Burger is no stranger to Penangites as it has been featured in “food fashion” magazine Foodsion, Penang Foodie, Chinese news outlet Kwong Wah Yit Poh, and Penang Holiao. As with any great burger restaurant, the patties here are all handmade. They have patties made from beef, chicken, pork, tilapia and even Norwegian salmon. The menu here is quite extensive and impressive, with most of the burgers allowing you to choose which patty you’d like, but some have limitations based on the taste pairings between the condiments and the patties. Their signature namesake, the Flip Burger, features bacon strips, caramelised onions, pickles and cheddar slice on top of the patty of your choice—apart from the Norwegian salmon, which is reserved only for The Fat Fish and Surf & Turf Somersault burgers.

Pasadena is a city in the American state of California. Many may not know this, but Pasadena is hailed as the birthplace of the cheeseburger, which was apparently first invented in 1924 when 16-year-old Lionel Clark Sternberger had the bright idea to place slices of cheese on top of the hamburgers he sold. And thus, a monumental part of gourmet history was made, and the cheese hamburger—later simply dubbed the cheeseburger—is the best thing since sliced bread, except sliced bread actually came several years after the invention of the cheeseburger, so sliced bread is the best thing since cheeseburgers. Over here in Malaysia at Plaza Mont’Kiara there’s a cosy little cafe called Pasadena Burger & Coffee. Pasadena Burger touts itself as the first in Malaysia to serve dipping cheeseburgers; choose from three different sauces to dip your burgers in for extra deliciousness: Habanero Cheese, Cajun Chili Queso, and Honey Cheese. The dipping cheeseburgers are served with muffin-style buns to maximise the absorption of the dipping sauce so each mouthful would be bursting with flavour. Of course, calling itself Pasadena Burger would not be right if it does not also serve Californian burgers, but what exactly makes Californian burgers different from others? Well, you really need to come over and try it yourself to taste the difference; as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! For the more adventurous types, you can also add on the infamously pungent-but-delicious blue cheese to your burgers. Not really a fan of beef or cheese? They have got you covered, as their chicken burgers are delicious in their own right as well. For the full traditional American burger experience, have your burgers with a milkshake—Pasadena Burger offers three flavours for you to choose from: Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla.

You won’t be able to guess what Junk Cafe looks like from the outside, but when you enter the cafe, it has a completely different yet cosy ambience than you might expect, which teaches you not to judge a book by its cover, or a cafe by its exterior. So why did the owners name it Junk Cafe? Well, it is because It has the most number of interesting antiques—which they candidly call “junk”—in a small cafe. Their famous homemade gourmet burgers would absolutely blow your mind with homemade patties that come with in-house hand-cut fries. Their signature Full of Junk Burger is anything but junk food as it comes with caramelised onions, Italian balsamic vinegar, four different mushrooms sauteed in herbs and a slice of melted sharp cheddar cheese! For tipplers, they serve nice cocktails here too. They pride themselves on offering good service.
