Explore 2 Natural UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal – Sagarmatha and Chitwan National Park

Nepal is of course; not a wealthy country but, it is naturally rich in the world. There are ten world heritage sites of UNESCO in the country. Eight of them are cultural, and two are natural sites.

All the cultural section have lots of tourists and pilgrims every time, but the natural sections have only the excursionists and activists. Chitwan national forest and Sagarmatha reservation are the natural heritage sites in Nepal. Lots of travellers visit Chitwan for a jungle safari tour, and lots of trekkers visit the Sagarmatha for adventure treks.

Sagarmatha national park is in the Himalaya and millions of trekkers trek on the different trekking trails inside this region during each high trekking season. Lumbini (the birthplace of Lord Budha), Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar square, Patan Durbar square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changunarayan are the cultural heritage spots in the country.

Exploring Chitwan national park with a safari tour is a luxury tourism activities but exploring Sagarmatha national park is an adventure activity.

Chitwan National Park – Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in Lower Land

Chitwan national park is the first one in Nepal. The distance to Chitwan is about 165km west from Kathmandu. The reservation is in Chitwan metropolitan city. Travellers can do one-day safari activity to 5 days safari tour. But, most travellers are doing 2- nights’ 3-days jungle safari tour or 3-nights 4-days safari program in this reservation.

Travellers can drive on a tourist coach, fly to Bharatpur or take private transport to reach Chitwan from Kathmandu. Not only the jungle activities, seeing traditional Tharu village and their cultural program also the attraction from the region.

Sagarmatha National Park – Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in Himalaya

Sagarmatha is in the east from Kathmandu. All the trekking trails go through this reservation in the Everest region. Drives to Jiri or Salleri and flight to Lukla connect to the national park from Kathmandu.

Using the driving routes takes a week walk to reach here, but flight takes directly into the Sagarmatha Park. The Everest base camp trek, Gokyo valley and tranquil lakes trip, Everest high passes journey, Cho La pass the route, Renjo La pass and Everest panorama trekking packages are inside this Himalayan national park.

Trekking trails inside the national park start from Monjo after issuing the area entry permit. Everest base camp trails divide from Sanasa after Namche Bazaar on the 4th day of the trekking journey and left goes to Gokyo valley.

There are three highest mountains above 8000m in this area. Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Cho-Oyu are those highest mountains. But, Mt. Makalu also can see from some points of Sagarmatha region. Mt. Makalu is the 4th the highest mountain in Nepal and 5th in the world.

Everest view hotel, Nangkar-Tsang hill, Tengboche, Kala Patthar, Gokyo Ri and Renjo La top offer stunning mountain views of the Everest Himalaya during the Sagarmatha region trekking. Some beautiful mountain valleys are also good to see in this national park. Khumbu valley, Imja valley, Gokyo valley and Himalayan hidden valley Thame are the beautiful mountain valleys which held in the Sagarmatha.
