Halal Food in Melaka City

Halal Food in Melaka City

Asam Pedas, Kuih Keria Gula Melaka, Jonker 88… ohh listing them here makes me hungry already.

Melaka has been one of my favourite place to go for a day Food Trip!

I live in Kuala Lumpur and the distance from my house to Melaka is estimated around 133KM (aprox. 1Hour 30mins of driving hours). I’ll usually leave home around 10.30AM and reach Melaka around 12PM and that will be a perfect time for LUNCH!

Without further ado, here are the list of places of Halal food you MUST visit in Melaka starting from Lunch onwards:

(12PM) Lunch @ Perhentian Selera Kampung

One things i love about this place is that there is so much to eat in 1 place

i.e. 20 trays of Kuih Traditional (Traditional Local Desserts), Pau, Ayam Bakar Madu, Asam Pedas and etc.

So much to try so little time.. so let me tell you my top 5 things to eat at Perhentian Selera Kampung:

  • Asam Pedas (MUST TRY)
  • Kuih Keria Gula Melaka (MUST TRY)
  • Tapai Pulut
  • Ayam Bakar Madu
  • All your fav kuihs

(1.30PM – 4.30PM)

After all the food you ate during lunch im sure you want to chill that tummy of yours. While waiting for your tummy to rest, go ahead and do a little sightseeing:

  • Window Shopping at Mahkota Parade Mall or Dataran Pahlawan Mall
  • Visit the Red Square for its mini market and beca rides
  • Klebang Mountain Sands
  • and many more!

(5PM – 6PM) Jonker 88 @ Jonker Walk

(7.30PM – 8.30PM) Calanthe Arts Café @ Jonker Walk

In one of the streets of Jonker, there is this very Hipster/Nyonya-ish café called Calanthe Arts Café. Yall, the food here is so good! I love having dinner here. Their desserts pun sedap. My personal fav from Calanthe Arts Café:

  • Nasi Lemak Calanthe
  • Asam Pedas Ikan Pari + Rice
  • Desserts: Choc Brownies and/or Hot Caramel Cake

Note: If you want to perform your Maghrib Prayers, there is a Surau at Jonker located nearby Jonker’s Entrace opposite the Red Buildings.

(9PM – 9.30PM) Isyak Prayers @ Melaka Straits Mosque

I strongly suggest you to visit the Melaka Straits Mosque, especially at night for Isyak Prayers. The Mosque is ala-ala Masjid Terapung and the lights and architecture of the mosque is beautiful + breathtaking!

(10PM – 11PM) Roti Naan @ Pak Putra (MUST TRY!!!)

*Images above were taken from Google

Finally, my favourite MUST PLACE to go in Melaka.. PAK PUTRA! You have no idea how excited I am to write about this restautant as this is my most favourite place to makan. Their Roti Naan is the BOMB and their side dishes are TO DIE FOR! Food you MUST TRY at Pak Putra:-

Choice of Naan

  • Garlic Cheese Naan

  • Tandoori Chicken
  • Spinach Dish
  • Chicken Vindaloo

Perut sudah kenyang, hati pun riang.. apa lagi kita balik KL dan tidur. Hehe. I hope yall enjoy the food I suggested earlier. Although there are so many other places to visit/dine + eat i.e. Coconut Milk Shake Klebang, Putu Piring Jumbo and etc. I personally feel like it’s not as good as it used to be hence I don’t list them here. If you want to try, please go ahead kay.

That is all for now. Most of the pictures i had to take/pinjam from Google Images cuz.. to be honest i was so busy eating the food i forgot to take picture. Habis makan baru ingat nak tangkap gambar. Hahaha.

I hope you enjoy your Melaka day trip as much as I do!

Thanks and take care

With Love,

Leeny Mahmud
