If you live in the Klang Valley area, you would go to your local durian shop. We don’t blame you, it’s convenient, and it works.
But you can do better.
Generally speaking, buying durians in Klang Valley isn’t quite ideal. This is because they are mostly grown in other states. By the time the durians reach Klang Valley, it would have changed hands a few times, and spent time on the road and in storage.
This means two things: the durians will be less fresh, and will cost more. So why don’t you go straight to the source?
If you love durians enough, you can travel to these places to get your fill.
Haw Kee Durian Orchard, Seremban
Lot 2013 Kampung Kolam Air Mukim Pantai Baharu, Jalan Jelebu, 71700 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

This place claims to grow durians without pesticides. Plus, they even have white-fleshed ‘vanilla’ durians if you’re curious to try new variants. The owner has a reputation of being friendly, too. You can make site visits and private functions, but do call them ahead of time. Protip: do not drive big cars as space will be tight.
Raub Durian Orchard, Raub
27600 Raub District, Pahang (For a more accurate location: see their map)
Indulge in your durians in a peaceful environment. Eddie, the owner, and his staff are known to be friendly here. They also have a chalet built for comfort of the guests. If you’d like to stay overnight, Hotel Raub in Raub town is a good option.
Jimmy’s Durian Orchard, Karak
Jalan Lama Bentong, Karak, Bentong, 28600 (Left turn off E8)
Just an hour’s drive away from Kuala Lumpur, this family-run orchard offers variety and freshness. And a homestay with meals provided, for those looking to spend the night. Aside from organic durians, they also grow other local fruits such as mangosteens and rambutans. Advance booking is available, and recommended so you can ensure availability. Protip: bring mosquito repellant.
Sim Koa Yen, Melaka
Jalan Simpang Gading / Ayer Pasir, 76100 Durian Tunggal, Melaka
+6012-6816895 (Mr Yap Peck Hoe)
This orchard has much to boast about. They won the Durian Championship Malaysia back in 2008, awarded the SALM certificate by the Ministry of Agriculture, and have 29 varieties of durian. They also have rooms for overnight stays, including a dorm that fits 10 people. Protip: they provide transportation to their site from Melaka Center, details at their website.
